Hypothesis

My hypothesis is that the extent of virus spreading is in high correlation with the condensation of water vapor in the air. That is, the more condensation is taking place, the more excessive the virus spread is.

What is condensation?

The air is full of water, as water vapor, even if you can't see it. Condensation is the process of water vapor turning back into liquid water, with the best example being those big, fluffy clouds floating over your head. And when the water droplets in clouds combine, they become heavy enough to form raindrops to rain down onto your head.

Where does condensation take place?

Where the air contains the maximum amount of water vapor at the given temperature and preassure. In technical terms, where relative humidity reaches its maximum (100%). Warm air can contain more moisture than cold air. Therefore, if the air is cooled, relative humidity rises and at a certain point it reaches its maximum and condensation is taking place. This point is called the dew point temperature. Here is a video explaining these concepts:

Some examples where condensation is taking place:
  • fog - being in the cloud
  • mountain climate, where clouds are often present near ground level
  • air conditioners, the more difference in temperature, the more condensation
  • churches, caves due to microclimate conditions
  • basement areas, cellars

Ok, but why and how is this related to the new coronavirus?
